What owners report
Before the collision, while turning left from a complete stop, the steering wheel suddenly became extremely stiff and would not turn normally. There were no dashboard warning lights (no EPS, brake, or hybrid warnings).
My husband was driving our 2022 Honda Accord home eastbound on [XXX] on Friday, [XXX] from Oswego to Saratoga Springs from a funeral. It was extremely hot that day. It started to rain and he was going the speed limit and the steering locked up.
2023 Honda Accord, 79,000 miles. Steering binds and feels sticky at highway speeds, making it dangerous to micro-adjust. Same issue as the 24V-744 Honda recall, but Accord is excluded20
The vehicle repeatedly has creaking, sticky steering/issues with steering, and clunking sounds when driving. Sound is more prominent at low speeds and when cornering. The vehicle's steering rack has already been replaced twice within 3 years.
The steering gear/rack on my 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid has failed twice. The original rack was replaced under warranty at 36,330 miles (January 2026). At approximately 41,000 miles I returned to the dealer reporting the same symptoms, but it was not diagnosed.
Roughly a month or two after purchasing my 2024 Honda accord hybrid sport, I noticed a chirping noise when driving and a slight steering problem. I took the car in, and they told me that it was the steering rack and they replaced it.
