We were stopped for fuel. Prior to fueling we turned off the engine and opened the fuel door, inserting the gas nozzle and then began to pump fuel.
The hybrid battery overheated and started burning the interior of the vehicle while it sat turned off charging in the garage. Smoke filled the house which had to be evacuated.
The contact’s daughter owns a 2021 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, there was a strong fuel odor inside the vehicle.
Chrysler issued this safety recall 52D at the end of June and still no remedy is being reported as available from Chrysler. This is abysmal customer performance and and unacceptable turnaround time for what amounts to a serious safety risk.
While driving the vehicle, the accelerator will become inactive and result in the vehicle slowing to a stop. I will shut off the ignition and let vehicle rest for 10-20 mins before restarting.
